Lambton Public Health has declared an outbreak there.

Officials say the units are still open for admissions but there are enhanced precautions including extra cleaning and infection control to try to stop further transmission of the contagious virus.

The six cases are among the 12 people in Lambton who Public Health reports today tested positive for the virus.

Another inmate at the Sarnia Jail has also contracted the virus.

In Ontario today, there were 1,150 new COVID-19 cases today. There are 47 new deaths, bringing the total to 6,820 since the pandemic began.

This afternoon, the province reviews the status of regions across the province to determine if more or less restrictions are needed. Lambton’s medical officer of health has said the county may move to the Red-Control stage since there have been more cases in the last week.
