Brooke-Alvinston sets up charitable fund
September 22, 2021
Brooke-Alvinston has set up a community fund.
The municipality is working with the Sarnia Community Foundation which manages funds for several Lambton County communities. Brooke-Alvinston decided to move forward with the idea earlier this year to give people a place to donate money to invest in community projects. The municipality unveiled it Thursday.
“Our community has come together to build a community park and many other community upgrades,” Mayor Dave Ferguson says in a news release. “The Brooke Alvinston Community Fund is one means for its citizens to continue building on the rich heritage of neighbours helping neighbours for the common good.”
“Donations to the Brooke-Alvinston Community Fund are being handled by SCF to ensure that donors know the funds are only spent on community betterment. Decisions on spending income and grants will be made locally by our local committee.”
The arts, children and youth, education, the environment, health, and social services are all areas the foundation makes grants to on an annual basis.
