On Sept. 30, York Regional Police found a body at the landfill believed to be the Markham murder victims. The department is investigating the disappearance of Quoc Tran, 37, and Kristy Nguyen, 25. Police believe they were victims of foul play in a targeted attack.
They were last seen in an industrial area in Vaughn Saturday Sept. 18 around 5:30 pm. Investigators believe they “were victims of a targeted attack.”
Media Relations Officer Const. Laura Nicolle says a contingent of the department’s search and rescue team is still at the landfill looking for the second victim. And she says they will continue there until the victim is found.
Sources say the police continue to search in the active cell of Ontario’s largest landfill.

A second man has been arrested and charged with being an accessory to murder. Recaldo Liburd was arrested and charged with two counts of accessory after the fact of murder.
