The wife of Plympton-Wyoming Mayor Lonny Napper has died.

Carolyn Napper – who had been married to the mayor for 53 years – had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1999. She had been living at Meadowview Villa where she was known as “the Lady in the Gazebo” where she and Napper often sat to visit. She would greet others coming to visit their family. Napper would often reference the good care she received at the nursing home during county council meetings.

Napper was at her husband’s side during almost all of his annual Mayor’s Honours community luncheons as his co-host.

“In spite of many difficult health struggles, she always faced life with good cheer, and her wonderful sense of humour intact. She never complained, always took time to smell the roses, and taught us all that life can still be lived with joy even in the face of great adversity,” wrote the family in her obituary.

A private memorial service will be held Jan. 5 and a livestream of the service will be posted to Needham Jay Funeral Home’s Facebook page at 1pm that day.
