Movies, tours, snow and skating all planned for Petrolia’s Family Day weekend

Petrolia is planning some fun for Family Day both virtually and in person

The annual Snow Sculpture contest runs from Feb. 1 to 21, with a twist; there is snow at least for a while. The theme is Silly, Scary, Goofy Snow Monsters. You can email your photos of your submissions to twagner@petrolia.ca by 4 pm Feb. 21.

Petrolia Discovery his open for tours on Saturday of the Family Day weekend. There will be self-guided tours and specialty coffee, hot chocolate and cookies will be served inside Watson’s Mill on the site.

Families can also get a Family Fun Pack Saturday from 10 to 2pm at the Farmers Market. There will be 400 kits which will include a $5 discount card for participating Petrolia merchants and restaurants – donated by the local service clubs. The kit also includes a free streaming coupon for Tom and Jerry The Movie.

There will also be free skating both Saturday and Monday, following pandemic protocols.

And New Life Church will be giving away a free take out breakfast between 9 am and 10 am Monday.
