March 21, 2022
The Petrolia Squires came within just over minute of grabbing a two-game lead in the WOAA Senior A championship series.
But the Shallow Lake Crushers scored the tying goal with an extra attacker late in the third period and counted the winner in overtime in a 4-3 triumph in the Owen Sound-area community Saturday to even the best-of-seven affair at a game apiece.
Ethan Dupont, Jack Hackett, and Jesse Ferguson scored for the Squires in a losing cause.
The Squires won the opener on home ice Friday, beating the Crushers, 4-2. Sam McCormack had the game-winner, shorthanded.
Curtis Helps, Kyler Keating and Eric Marsh also scored for the Petrolia with Marsh’s marker into an empty net.
Game three is Saturday night at Greenwood at 7:30.
