Remains found on Lasalle Line identified as murdered Sarnia man
The Big Push
May 4, 2022
Members of the Wyoming fire department rolled up their sleeves to bring their new number one pumper into the station Monday night.
The unit replaces another which was damaged beyond repair after an accident near Reece’s Corners in September 2019. The pumper tipped into a creek after an unstable bank gave way as the crew tried to make its way to a stolen pickup on fire in a cornfield.
Monday’s ceremony was one of two in the municipality.
Camlachie has also received its new pumper and members there pushed their pumper into the station as well. The new unit is a replacement for one which had reached the end of its service.
The tradition stems from a time when firefighters used a horse and wagon. When they returned, the horses wouldn’t back into the fire station, so it was up to the firefighters to push them in.
The two trucks cost over $1.6 million.
