Sparkling senior
July 2, 2022
Diane O’Dell, the head of the Lambton Youth Choir, has been named Petrolia’s Senior of the Year. Mayor Brad Loosley says she and her late sister started the group which has mentored young singers for over 24 years. He says O’Dell “mentoring each child to find where their vocal talents lie and encouraging them to “sparkle” where they are.” O’Dell is also an active supporter of Victoria Playhouse Petrolia, acting as a billet for performers, and photographing performances giving the actors a book of photos to remember the experience. The announcement at Monday’s council meeting was a surprise to O’Dell, who thought she was going to be taking photos for the town. But was quick to say “I love the involvement of VPP in our community; it’s great for the economy of our town and I love it for the thousands of visitors it brings to our town.”
