Petrolia’s Syer to continue baseball career in Chicago

Trevor Syer is heading for St. Xavier University in Chicago on a baseball scholarship. He heads to the Windy City in September 2023.

Syer, a multi sport athlete at LCCVI honed his baseball skills with the Wyoming Wranglers, the Sarnia Braves, and the Great Lake Canadians organizations.

St. Xavier was 22-7-1 in conference play this season and 40-14-1 overall.

Meantime, Syer and the Great Lake Canadians 17U team traveled to Grand Park,  Indiana in mid July to compete in the ABC Invitational tournament, hosting 96 teams. 

The Canadians went 7-1 winning the Gold bracket.  Local members include Petrolia’s Trevor Syer and Sarnia’s Nolan Caudle.

The team competed in their league championships  in early August in Dorchester winning 4 straight to be named the Canadian Premier Baseball league champions. 

The teams overall record for the season was 43-13.
