Teacher sentenced to a year in jail

A Petrolia teacher who was found guilty of sexual explotation will spend a year in jail.
Justice Deborah Austin has just handed down the sentence against Gillian Boere in a Sarnia Court.
Austin found the teacher was in a vulnerable state, broke down in tears and was comforted by the teen. The relationship became sexual but Austin says it was clearly the former teacher’s “responsibility to stop that.”
Boere will be on probation for a year after serving the sentence.
