October 7, 2022

The Petrolia Squires are gearing up for their home opener Saturday.

The Petrolia Squires have finalized their roster with 26 players including the leadership group captain Jesse Ferguson, and alternative captains Kyler Keating and Ryan Fraser.

New to the squad this year are Connor McCormack , former junior player Cole Harris, hockey veteran Brandon Merritt, and former OHL and CIS star Brandon Biggers. And there are some returning fan favourites including, Kraig Wright , Adam Arseneault , Ryan Trottier , and goaltender Brandon Campbell.

Last year’s top scorers Isaac McLean and Kole Keating are back as areTJ Harris, Curtis Helps, Jack Hackett, Jared Pageau, and Corey Pawley Steve Farlow, Thomas Moxley, and Connor McKinnon, and Sam McCormack.

“We believe this years’ version of the Petrolia Squires will bring the most competitive, hard-fought, and entertaining hockey to Lambton County that any fan can experience,” says General Manager Tim Martin in a news release.

“From top to bottom this years’ team has depth that few teams in the league are able to replicate, including perhaps the best three-member goaltending core,” said fifth-year head coach Craig Prudom. “Last year we struggled to score at times, but from our first to our fourth line, there is no doubt that we will be able to put the puck in the net this upcoming season. We have high expectations for this group of young men, and based on pre-season practices it is obvious that the team is eager to prove their worth on the ice.”

Tickets for this Saturday’s game can be purchased at the gate. The October schedule includes home games on October 8th, 21st, 22nd, and 28th.
