After over a year of planning, the Bergsma family is beginning to see their dream of a retreat for first responders and firefighters take shape. The ground on the Three Oaks Retreat is now being prepared for the log cabin which will soon be going up. The Bergsma family decided to build the retreat after their son and brother, Dalles, died by suicide in 2020. “A lot of emotion is flowing at Bilton Line today as we officially break ground. It has been a long-awaited moment,” wrote the family on social media. “We hope to come along side people who are doing the hard work of digging down by providing a place of reprieve and access to wellness programs.”
