Heavy rain in storm rolls through Lambton
The Independent nominated for three provincial awards

For the fifth time since 2016, The Independent of Petrolia and Central Lambton has been nominated as one of the best small newspapers in Ontario.
The Ontario Community Newspaper Association announced the nominees in the Better Newspaper Awards Tuesday.
The Independent faces The Haliburton County Echo and The Listowel Banner for best newspaper in its class.
Heather Wright was also nominated in the Best Sport Photo category for a picture from the Alvinston Pro Rodeo.
And Wright and sports reporter Barry Wright are nominated for Best Sports story for a feature on racism in hockey.
The awards will be handed out this spring.
