Leckie, Syer named Volunteers of the Year
February 24, 2023
Larry Leckie and Terry Syer have been honoured for their volunteer work in Petrolia.
The Town of Petrolia held its annual volunteer appreciation night Thursday. Over 80 volunteers – service club members, members of town committees, Victoria Playhouse Petrolia volunteers, among others – attended the event.
Leckie and Syer were recognized as Volunteers of the Year.
Leckie – with members of St. Paul United Church – spearheaded the opening of the Community Refrigerator project which provides food for those in need 24 hours a day.
Syer is active in outdoor pursuits including both the Petrolia and Lambton Trails groups and is the coordinator for pickleball in town. He also serves on the Heritage Advisory Committee.
Officials say a third volunteer will be honoured at a later date.
