Community fridge given Service Above Self grant
April 1, 2023
The Sarnia Rotary has recognized the efforts of a Petrolia group feeding the hungry.
Petrolia Community Refrigerator was given a $3,000 award recognizing the groups ongoing efforts to support food-insecure people in the Petrolia community. The community refrigerator is open every day, all day and works with local food businesses to stock the refridgerated shed off Albany Street.
The group also works with other community agencies to provide a mobile fresh food market, tax clinic, and hot lunches twice a month. In April, LCDS will work with the group to distribute Garden Fresh Boxes.
Pictured are Les Whiting, Nicole Newman and Larry Leckie of the community refrigerator and Mike Elliot and Rick Marsh of Sarnia Rotary.
