Heat warning issued for Wednesday and Thursday

Duncan, Van Gorp playing in qualifier for U18 championship

The Elgin Middlesex Canucks open play this (Monday) afternoon at the Telus Cup regional U18 hockey championship in Windsor. The Canucks, with Alvinston’s Hayden Duncan, Watford’s Evan Van Gorp and Luke Bogart of Grand Bend on its roster, face off against the Kemptville 73’s at 3:15 pm.
The six-team qualifying tournament for the national U18 championship in Quebec later this month also includes the Oshawa Generals, North Bay Trappers, Toronto Jr. Canadiens, and the host Windsor Jr. Spitfires.
The Canucks, who qualified for the regional tourney by winning the Alliance League championship last week, are coached by Petrolia’s Brian Dobbin.
