Alvinston’s Duncan earns shutout

Hayden Duncan earned the shutout as the Elgin-Middlesex Canucks blanked the North Bay Trappers, 2-0 Wednesday to improve to 3-0 at the Ontario U18 hockey championships in Windsor.

Grand Bend’s Luke Bogart drew an assist on the insurance marker. Watford’s Evan Van Gorp is also on the Elgin-Middlesex roster.

The Canucks, coached by Petrolia’s Brian Dobbin, play the Toronto Jr. Canadiens Thursday and close out the round robin with a game against the host Windsor Jr. Spitfires on Friday.

The playoffs take place on the weekend.

Proposed Pinery management plan calls for removing about 300 campsites to protect the dunes
