Oilers ‘Champion of Champions’

The Petrolia Oilers U18 AE’s won its inaugural invitational hockey tournament on the weekend to bring the curtain down on the Petrolia Minor Hockey Association season on the ice. 

The tournament was organized for teams that won or qualified in Regional Silver Sticks but no International was available.

The Oilers (pictured at the left) started the tournament with a 2-1 overtime loss to Parry Sound. The team came back to beat East Lambton 2-1 and then topped Mid-Huron 4-3 before blanking East Lambton, 3-0 to capture the four-team event. 

As the season ends, the Petrolia Minor Hockey Association will host its annual award evening on Thursday at New Life Assembly Church. 

Awards for U9-U13 teams will be handed out from 6-7:30 pm, and U15-U18 awards will be presented from 7:30-9 pm.

Meantime, the East Lambton Minor Hockey Association will host its year-end banquet Saturday at 5 pm and the Lambton Shores association has its banquet set for April 28 at the Legacy Centre.
