Highland Glen launch fee set
April 22, 2023
Boaters setting sale from the newly renovated Highland Glen launch will be paying $15.
Plympton-Wyoming council has agreed to charge a daily launch fee of $15 or a yearly pass of $200 to help pay for the upkeep of the launch which recently reopened after three years.
Boaters will have to go to the town’s website to pay the fee in advance. The passes will also be available at town hall.
The town needs approval for the fees from the Ministry of the Solicitor General and that can take months, according to town staff. So, if someone fails to pay the fee, they town will not be able to issue a fine or force payment. Instead officials agreed to provide pamphlets explaining why the town is charging for use.
Councillors expect bylaw enforcement of the launch fees will likely be possible in 2024.
