Team USA scored twice in each period, including a pair of shorthanded goals, to beat Canada, 6-1 in the gold medal game Sunday at the World Para Ice Hockey Championships in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

Forest’s Tyler McGregor (below) had Canada’s lone goal. He tied for the scoring lead over the week long event with four goals and 10 points in five games.

Canada advanced to the final with a 5-0 win over Czechia in the semifinals on Saturday. The U.S. punched its ticket beating China, 10-2.

The Americans beat Canada, 3-0 in the preliminary round earlier in the week.

Meantime, McGregor can add another honour to his list. The Sarnia-Lambton Sports Hall of Fame will present him with The Jack Isom Award for his accomplishments at the national and international level in sledge hockey.
