Wyoming, Forest dragonboaters win world championship

Five members of the Lambton Shores Dragon Boat Club are coming home with gold medals from the World Dragonboat Racing Championships in Thailand.
Megan Johnston and Katelyn Finch of Wyoming along with Jase and Georgia Peters of Forest were part of Canada’s junior team that won the Junior Cup beating out competitors from Australia, the USA, Thailand, the Ukraine, India and China for the top team prize.
The other member was Julia Chagnon from Clinton.
The juniors won 21 medals in 24 races, including seven gold medals, 13 silver and a bronze.
Team Canada also won the Nations Cup as the overall team champion over all age groups and classifications.
The world championships in 2024 are scheduled for Germany.
