Campbell wins silver at nationals

Hunter Campbell continues to add to his track and field medal haul.

The Petrolia thrower, representing the Athletics Southwest Club in Sarnia, took silver today in the under-18 discus event at the Canadian Legion Track and Field Championships in Sherbrooke, Quebec.

His throw of 49.16 metres was more three metres farther than his previous best set at the Athletics Ontario championships just last weekend in London.

Meantime, Sarnia’s Avery Robinson was ninth in the girls’ under-18 100 metre hurdles in a time of 14.99 seconds, and Skarlit Worton of Sarnia was 14th in the girls’ under-14 100 metre dash in a time of 13.12 seconds.

Sidewalk projects around First Ave this summer

Aamjiwnaang evacuates parts of community as INEOS decommissioning increases benzene levels

Leaders of the Aamjiwnaang First Nation are evacuating residents between Churchill Road and Tashmoo Ave after high levels of benzene have been detected in the area. Just before noon Friday, INEOS Styrolutions issued a notice saying hourly benzene emissions have been detected about 0.021 parts per million.
