OBA’s on tap in Petrolia and Wyoming

Long-time Petrolia Raider Tim Martin - who retired earlier this year - returned to the mound Friday afternoon for the Raiders opening OBA game against Simcoe. He struck out the first batter with three pitches.

The Petrolia Raiders and Wyoming Cattlebarons are representing the Western Counties league in the OBA senior B baseball championships this weekend.

The host Raiders are on the field now against the Simcoe Giants at Morrison Field and the Cattlebarons entertain Byron at Wyoming’s Canton Park on Friday at 7:30.

The 24-team tournament also includes games at Sarnia’s Blackwell Park. 

The tournament continues through the weekend with championships games set for Sunday at Morrison Field in Petrolia.

Meantime, Port Lambton is contesting the senior C trophy in Port Hope this weekend.

The Wyoming Wranglers are hosting the 11U OBA tournament this long weekend.

The Wranglers open on Friday morning at 10 against Mitchell at Centennial Park.

Two other Western Counties team are also competing. Corunna opens on Friday at 10 against Thorold on diamond #3 and Dresden goes up against Saugeen Shores on Friday at 1 pm at Centennial.

The champions will be crowned on Sunday afternoon.
