Jets spoil the Killer Bees’ party with the first win of the series
Lancers win senior and junior cross country events

LCCVI’s Michael Belan nosed out Alex Pretty of Northern to win the senior boys’ high school cross country race this week in Chatham.
Another Lancer, James Grant won the junior boys race by a sizeable margin of nearly a minute and a half.
Several other local runners cracked the top ten in their divisions. Ella McCallum and Abby Ginn of LCCVI were fifth and eighth in novice girls’ and senior girls’
action. AJ Wilson and Gillian Cran of North Lambton were sixth and tenth in novice boys and novice girls races.
The Lambton Kent cross country championship will be held in Chatham on Oct. 17 and SWOSSA will be held a week later in Windsor.

Avian flu detected in Lambton poultry operation

The Independent Lambton Public Health officials say there has been a confirmed report of Avian influenza in a poultry flock. In a news release, officials said the Ontario Ministry of Health and Agriculture as well as the Canadian Food Inspection Agency is investigating the situation.
