There was no luck for the Irish Saturday.

The Alvinston Killer Bees stung the Stratford Irish 6-5 win in extra time Saturday.

Aidan Preuter scored the game-winner at 16:09 of overtime.

Carson Perry opened the scoring on a penalty shot in the first period but the home team came back with three straight goal to take a 3-1 advantage into the first intermission. The Bees registered goals by Dawson Winchester and Jacob Chantler 32 second apart midway through the second period but the Fighting Irish scored a late goal to a 4-3 advantage into the dressing room after 40 minutes. In the third, James McEwan scored twice in the final four-and-half minutes to give the Bees a 5-4 lead before Stratford sent the contest to overtime with a tying goal in the final minute of regulation.

Nolan DeKoning was the winning goaltender.

It was the number one ranked Irish’s first loss of the playoffs.

The Killer Bees’ win ties the series at one each.

Game three is Friday in Stratford with the fourth game set for the Brooke-Alvinston-Inwood Community Complex Saturday. Puck drop for both games is 7:30.
