Douglas drafted by Sarnia Sting

April 18, 2024

Petrolia’s Roen Douglas is now a member of Sting Nation.

The speedy centreman was selected by the Sarnia Sting in the third round, 43rd overall, in the league’s under-18 draft on Wednesday.

The 16-year-old has had a banner season finishing second in the Alliance League playoffs with the Lambton Jr. Sting and also winning a silver medal with his hometown LCCVI Lancers at the recent OFSAA hockey championship.

Douglas was the co-scoring champion in the u-18 division this season with 16 goals and 50 points in 35 games.   He also added a point per game in the postseason with five goals and five assists in 10 playoff games.

“Roen was a leader on his Jr. Sting team this season who put up great numbers with his skill at the centre position,” said Sting General Manager Dylan Seca in a prepared statement following the online draft. “We are always excited when local talent joins the organization and look forward to working with Roen”.

Douglas will be invited to the Sting’s orientation camp at Sarnia’s Pat Stapleton Arena on May 4.
