August 12, 2024
Peyton Reid’s two-run single keyed a six-run first inning to lead the Alvinston Riverhawks’ under-15 squad to a 16-2 win over Wyoming Wranglers in the Lambton Central Softball League U17 championship on the weekend.
Alvinston reached the final in the double knock out tournament with earlier wins over Wyoming, 15-5 and Merlin, 11-2. Reid, Carly Watson, Charlie Kyte and Kylee Lawrence all had multiple RBI for the Hawks in the title contest and Molly Towers had the other. Sunny Derbyshire used plate patience to draw a pair of walks for Alvinston.
Brooke Reid allowed just one hit and struck out 10 over five innings to picked up the mound victory.
