Dryer fire contained in Petrolia

Petrolia/North Enniskillen firefighters are reminding people to check their dryers after a small fire.

Wednesday, around 3:30 pm, firefighters were called to the seniors complex for a dryer fire. Crews moved quickly and were able to contain the damage to just the dryer itself, pulling the unit out of the apartment. No one was injured in the incident.

Fire officials remind homeowners always keep your dryers lint trap cleaned out.

Burn ban issued in Oil Springs and south Enniskillen

Oil Springs is the latest fire department to issue a burn ban. Officials say as a result of the recent extreme temperatures and dry conditions, the Oil Springs/South Enniskillen Fire Department will not be permitting any rural burning, including all types of recreational fires. The department will not be issuing any outdoor rural burn permits until the ban is lifted.
