Petrolia Flyers one win from first round playoff sweep of Lucan

Tobias Iantorno had a hat trick and Andrew Jaques scored and added two assists to power the Petrolia Flyers to a 7-4 win over Lucan at Greenwood Rec Centre Sunday.

Owen Peters, Phoenix Timmington and Lucas Rogers also scored for Petrolia. Ethan Flintoff, Caleb Kennedy and Noel Sanderson each had two assists.

Elijah Grant made 20 saves.

Lucan’s first goal at 5:53 of the first period broke a goalless span of nearly 126 minutes dating back to consecutive shutouts by the Flyers in the first two games of the best-of-seven PJHL series.

Petrolia leads the series, 3-0 with the brooms at the ready as they travel to Lucan Wednesday.

Saturday in Lucan, Flintoff had two goals and two assists and Iantorno recorded four assists as the Flyers blanked the Irish, 6-0.

Ethan Everaert earned the shutout.
