Squires to take on Stratford in first round of playoffs

There will be Ontario Super Hockey League playoff action at Greenwood in Petrolia Friday as the Squires host the Stratford Fighting Irish in the first game of their bests-of-seven conference quarter final.

Game two is set for Saturday night in the Festival city. Dates for the remainder of the series are to be announced in the coming days.

Tillsonburg beat the Irish, 7-3 in a make up game on the weekend to round out the regular season standings.

The defending champion Thunder finish third and will take on Tilbury in the playoffs while the Irish win the tiebreaker against the Squires and get fourth place.

Stratford won both regular season games against Petrolia during the regular season, including a 4-2 at Greenwood in late September.

One person injured in transport crash on Highway 402

Province sets aside $6M for abandoned wells, like last year
