Richardson scores with two minutes left to lift Flyers to playoff win

The Petrolia Flyers have retained home ice advantage in its Yeck division semi-final with Mt. Brydges by virtue of a 3-2 win over the Bulldogs before a season-high crowd of 505 fans at Greenwood on Thursday.

Ryan Richardson had the game-winning goal with 2:03 left in regulation time.

After a scoreless first period, the Flyers took a 2-0 lead into the second intermission on goals by Logan Crummy and Parker Davidson. The visitors scored twice in the opening 11:09 of the third period setting up the Richardson heroics. Sarnia’s Nathan Lavender assisted on the equalizer for Mt. Brydges.

Tobias Iantorno assisted on the winner extending his point streak to 21 games dating back to when he joined the Flyers in early December.

Ethan Everaert got the win in the crease with 32 saves as the Flyers outshot the Bulldogs, 50-34.

Petrolia leads the best-of-seven series, two games to one with game in Mt. Brydges on Saturday night at 7:30. The fifth game is back in Petrolia on Sunday afternoon at 3:20.
