The Independent
Myles Vanni, the head of the Inn of the Good Shepherd Food Bank, has announced his retirement.
Vanni was appointed the executive director of the food bank in 2005.
“Over the past twenty years, as poverty levels increased and the need for service grew in Sarnia
and Lambton County, Myles responded with innovative leadership, introducing important new
services including: construction of an emergency and transitional housing facility; a winter coat
program; reduced-fare transit passes; school back packs; income tax clinics; summer snack
packs; kids’ birthday club; summer camp; Christmas Adopt-a-Family; the mobile market and
more,” said Sherri Crowley, chair of the board in a news release adding Vanni has served with “boundless energy, compassion, integrity and passion.”
Vanni, who was also recently honoured with the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers for his volunteer work outside his work life, will retire early in 2026. The board has already begun its search for a new executive director.
