Yesterday, around noon, the OPP was called to an unsafe road condition in the eastbound lanes between Airport Road and Mandaumin Road. Drivers are exiting at Airport Road and taking London Line to Mandaumin, where they are getting back on the 402.
The OPP says road closure is expected to remain in place for an extended period while crews work to safely to repair the road surface however the Ministry of Transportation has yet to say exactly what the problem is or how long the fix will take.
This is the third time portions of the highway have been closed in extreme heat events as the road surface buckles.
