Ministry of Transportation officials say the pavement problems on eastbound Highway 402 near Sarnia should be fixed by Tuesday night.
Around noon, the OPP was called to an unsafe road condition in the eastbound lanes between Airport Road and Mandaumin Road. Drivers are exiting at Airport Road and taking London Line to Mandaumin, where they are getting back on the 402.
The OPP expected the closure to last “an extended period” however Ministry of Transportation officials now say the pavement should be repaired by Tuesday evening.
This is the third time portions of the highway have been closed in extreme heat events as the road surface buckles.
