A 29 year-old from Caledon is facing drug trafficking charges after Canadian Border Security guards found 197 kilos of cocaine in transport at the Bluewater Bridge.
CBSA says on July 23, a commercial truck entering at Point Edward from the United States was inspected. In the trailer, border services officers found seven bags containing bricks of cocaine weighing 197 kilos with an estimated street value of $24.6 million.
Onkar Kalsi, 29, of Caledon has been charged by the RCMP with importation of cocaine and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
The investigation is continuing, officials said.
From January 1 to July 10, CBSA seized 1,684 kilograms of cocaine at the border; 1,164 kilograms was from the US.
