August 10, 2025
If you were planning on having a backyard fire in Petrolia – don’t.
Dry, hot conditions have prompted a burn ban in Petrolia and Enniskillen.
Lambton and much of Ontario has been under a heat warning for days with another two days of high temperatures expected.
The Petrolia/North Enniskillen Fire Department and the town have banned any outdoor burning including all types of recreational fires because of the extreme temperatures and dry conditions.
The fire department won’t be issuing any outdoor rural burn permits at this time, according to a news release from the town.
The burn ban will remain in effect until the notice is lifted.
While the heat warning will continue, there is thunderstorms in the forecast for Monday and Tuesday.
