Grants offered for land stewardship projects

August 10, 2025

The Independent

A new Land Stewardship program is looking for projects to fund.

Earlier this year, the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority received funding under the Great Lakes Local Action Fund to improve the environment.

One of the projects is a Land Stewardship pilot program which provides matching grants to farmers and landowners for 50 per cent of their costs on projects to improve the environment and particularly to keep fertilizers from running of into the St. Clair watershed.

The program will look at programs such as rural storm water management, tree plantings, wetland management including phragmites control, well decommissioning, erosion control, living snow fences made of crops and crop cover incentives.

The Land Stewardship project will provide up to $10,000 if a project is selected.

For more information about how the stewardship program works you can look for ‘land stewardship’ on the Lambton County website.
