There is now a piece of the old Plympton Township Hall in Camlachie.

The hall on Egremont Road was the oldest building in the municipality but would have cost thousands to fix. Rentals to the building also slowed to a trickle over the years.

The municipality sold the former hall for $50,000. The new owners are expected to convert the building to a home.

The sign from the former town hall building was taken down and put on the wall of the museum in Camlachie. Council decided to give half of the proceeds of the sale to the historical society to help the organization operate the museum.

Plympton-Wyoming Mayor Gary Atkinson presented a donation of $25,000 to the Plympton-Wyoming Historical Society. Taking part in the presentation is, from left, Plympton-Wyoming Historical Society Member Ed Dejong, President Gordon Mackenzie, Treasurer Jan Munro, Atkinson, Deputy Mayor Netty McEwen, who is also a member of the historical society and Don Poland, chair of the historical society’s military committee.
