Wind developer agrees to pay for municipalities’ lawyers

Brooke-Alvinston and Adelaide-Metcalfe have been working together to deal with the proposed Venfor Inc. wind proposal and have received cash from the wind developer to hire a lawyer.
Minutes of an Adelaide-Metcalfe meeting show the two neighbours have been working together since January and hired the law firm Miller Thomson to gather information to make the decision about a municipal support resolution.
In March, the two municipalities signed an agreement with Venfor to produce and pay for a number of reports, including an agricultural impact study and host information meetings. The agreement also covers the municipalities legal fees.
“The only commitment of Brooke-Alvinston and Adelaide Metcalfe is to consider issuing a Municipal Support Resolution,” the report says.
The financial agreement is similar to Warwick’s with WM dealing with landfill issues.
