Two charged after Sarnia woman kidnapped and beaten on London Road

August 25, 2025

The Independent

Two people are facing charges after a 50 year-old woman was kidnapped in Sarnia.

The woman called Sarnia Police Aug. 20 saying two days earlier she’d been assaulted, kidnapped from her London Road home and eventually released.

The woman told police she went to her door and was assaulted by a woman. She was then forced to go with the woman to a nearby home where a man was waiting.

There the 50 year-old was assaulted and tied to a chair where their pair continued to assault her, at one point holding a knife to her neck and threatening to kill her if she did not comply with their demands and to set her on fire.

After being held for what police said was a “lengthy amount of time” the woman was released with bruises, swelling and black eyes.

Aug. 23, police brought a warrant to a home, and officers with the Emergency Response Team, arrested two people.

A search of the residence found “evidentiary items that were consistent with the robbery and kidnapping” as well as 41 grams of cocaine “and other items indicative of drug trafficking.

Police have charged Chelsea VanSickle, 36, of Sarnia with 10 charges including robbery, kidnapping, assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, possession for the purpose of trafficking and uttering death threats. John LaCroix, 51, of Sarnia, faces four charges including forcible confinement, uttering death threats and trafficking.

Both were held in custody after a bail hearing.
