A pair of rookie teammates with the Sting, defenceman Cameron Aucoin and goaltender Patrick Quinlan are also committed to the Irish for the future.

“Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of getting to know the University, and I believe it’s the right for me,” said Edwards in a post on Instagram late last week.

Edwards did not say when he expects to join the Irish, but he did commit to the Sting for at least the 2025-26 campaign.

The 17-year-old, who is expected to be an early pick in the NHL draft next year, was among the leading rookie scorers in the OHL last season. He had 25 goals and 45 points in 62 games.
