The Independent

A Corunna man is facing charges after trying to get into Lambton College after being banned.

Around 1 pm, Sept. 18, police were called to Lambton College’s Wellington St. entrance where a man was yelling at security officers who had refused to let him in. He left before police arrived.

The man had been banned from the college after threatening and harassing staff members, police say. Police reviewed multiple emails and voice messages which contained “vile language” and threats to hurt specific people in “violent acts” and damage property. “These threats were detailed and specifically directed at named individuals, causing them to fear for their safety,” said police in a news release.

Police the man was arrested on Errol Road East and was placed under arrest. He immediately began yelling obscenities at police as he was placed in the cruiser, police said.

Daniel Wellington, 27, of Petrolia Line in Corunna was charged with uttering threats to cause death and criminal harassment. He also faces a charge of failing to comply with a probation order.

More charges were laid after Wellington allegedly “continued his tirade within the cell block” urinating and defecating on the floor and walls in the cell equipped with a toilet/sink.

Wellington also faces charges of mischief and breach of probation.

He’s being held in custody.
