Sarnia police interviewed witnesses, canvassed the neighbourhood, viewed video in the area and conducted a forensic examination of the scene. Official found the vehicle was travelling southbound when Nesbitt-Munday was struck.

There was no evidence of emergency steering or any type of braking on the roadway, say police, nor was any captured on witness video, according to police.  The driver stopped immediately and cooperated with the investigation.

Police say the victim was wearing dark clothing and had stepped onto the roadway. He was kneeling down on the road when he was struck. Police don’t know his reasons for kneeling.

Police say at this time, no charges are anticipated in this matter.

Nesbitt-Munday, who grew up in Petrolia, leaves behind a wife and three children.
