Gage Brandon has registered his first goal in the BCHL. He notched a power play marker for the Sherwood Park Crusaders in their 4-3 win over the Vernon Vipers on the weekend. Brandon, from Petrolia, was a third round pick by the Flint Firebirds in the OHL Priority Selection in 2024. He played three games with the Firebirds last season.

Ryan Bork is now on the board for the Dresden Jr. Kings of the PJHL. The Watford native scored his first career junior goal, a late third period tally, in a 5-3 loss in Blenheim on Sunday. Meantime, Watford’s Sean Shanahan improved to 4-0 in the North Middlesex crease. He made 35 saves in a 3-2 win over Thamesford on Sunday night. The Stars lead the Yeck Division standings with a 6-1-1 record.

The Petrolia Oilers won the under-15 B banner on the weekend at the Kris Clement tournament in Muskoka. The Oilers avenged its only loss in the preliminary round with a 2-0 win over the South Muskoka Bears in the semi-finals and then blanked Haliburton Highlands, 5-0 in the championship game.

The Sarnia Legionnaires will try to snap an eight-game losing skid Thursday when they welcome the Komoka Kings to the Pat Stapleton Arena.  Puck drop is 7:10 p.m. Sarnia fell to 0-8 bowing 4-1 to the Corvairs in Caledonia Oct. 4. Sting draft choice Sarvir Jaworski had his third goal in as many games for the Legionnaires. Andrew Gaulton took the loss in the Sarnia net stopping 51 shots as the home team outshot the Legionnaires, 55-29. Sarnia lost 6-3 to Cambridge on home ice last Thursday.

LCCVI improved to 5-0 in LKSSAA junior girls’ basketball with a 32-25 win over North Lambton on Monday in Petrolia.  The Eagles are 2-2. In senior action, North Lambton is 5-0 after a 46-24 decision over LCCVI.  Laine Rintoul led the Eagles with 11 points.  Aliya Anderson had six points for the Lancers who drop to 2-3 with the loss.

Forest’s Emma Munroe was the top female finisher from Lambton College at the OCAA invitational cross-country event on the weekend in London. She placed 12th in the 6K race in a time of 25:22.  For her efforts, the North Lambton grad was named Lambton’s female first star of the week.

A late season hole-in-one at Arkona Fairways.  Kris Lotz aced the seventh hole last Thursday.
