The Alvinston Killer Bees have tasted defeat for the first time this season in the Northern Premier Hockey League bowing 5-3 to the Bluebirds in Tilbury Saturday.

Alvinston is now 8-1 on the season. Tilbury is 3-5.

The Killer Bees battled back from an early two-goal deficit to tie the game at 3 on a power play marker by James McEwan with less than six minutes to play in the third period.

But the Bluebirds scored twice in 53 seconds in the final two and a half minutes to record the victory.

Josh Tidgwell and Sheldon Thompson also scored for Alvinston. Jacob Chantler had two assists.

Despite making 55 saves, Kaden Fulcher took the goaltending loss as the Killer Bees outshot the home team, 62-60. Ryan Polidori was the winning goalie with 59 stops.

The Bees will host its annual Hockey Fights Cancer Night against the Strathroy Jets this Saturday at the Brooke-Alvinston-Inwood Community Centre at 6:45.
