The Mooretown Flags rallied from a three goal deficit to tie the game in the third period but in the end came up short in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Essex 73’s in PJHL action at the Moore Sports Complex on Saturday.  The 73’s are now unbeaten in its last dozen games.

Carson Crawford, Mitchell Stack and Dylan Dupuis sent the game to extra time scoring three times in less than four minutes early in the third period. Owen MacDonald had two assists.

John Chartrand made 44 saves.

Sunday in Amherstburg, Crawford scored his team-leading 16th goal of the season in a 4-1 loss to the Admirals. It was his fourth goal in his past four games and his 50th career regular season point in the PJHL. Ethan Dunbar made 35 stops.

It was only Mooretown’s second loss in regulation time in its last nine games. Overall, the Flags are 12-9-1.

They play road games in Wheatley and Lakeshore on Wednesday and Friday this week before entertaining Blenheim on Saturday at the Moore Sports Complex. Puck drop is 7:30.
