John McGregor starts LKSSAA basketball season with sweep of LCCVI

John McGregor opened up the LKSSAA boys basketball season with a pair of road wins on Monday night in Petrolia.

The Panthers junior team got a 66-40 win over LCCVI. The Lancers were within striking distance in the fourth quarter but John McGregor pulled away with a 19-0 run in the final minutes.

Bibak Koirala had a game-high 31 points for the Panthers. Joey Edgar led the Lancers in scoring with 14 points.

The second contest of the night was much closer with John McGregor’s senior team getting a narrow 47-46 win over LCCVI.

The Lancers junior team hosts North Lambton on Wednesday at 5:30 pm. The senior team’s next game is on Monday in Wallaceburg.
