John Chartrand set a new regular season career wins record for the Mooretown Flags last month. Now, he owns the overall wins record for regular season and playoffs too.

He notched his 72nd win in style on home ice Saturday stopping 30 shots in backstopping the Flags to a 9-0 win over Walpole Island.

The win eclipses the previous record of 71 he shared with Jake Wilkins prior to Saturday’s victory. It was also Chartrand’s 10th overall shutout with the Flags, also a club record.

Carson Crawford’s first goal of his hat trick at 73 seconds of the first period was all Mooretown would need to improve to 15-13-1 at the holiday break.

Parker Currie, Casey Schouten, Mitchell Stack, Noah Waybrant, Brayden Hogan and Dylan Dupuis also scored for the winners.

Nolan Bourdage and Masen Flett each contributed a trio of assists while Owen MacDonald, Ethan Glavin and Geremia Nappi had two assists each.

Mooretown’s next game is at home against Wheatley Jan. 3.
