A new provincial grant will give some municipalities some relief when it comes to potholes.

Enniskillen Township will be applying to a new program instituted by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation. Enniskillen Township’s Administrator-Clerk Christine Poland reported to council at its meeting on Dec. 15 after a couple of phone calls from ministry staff she learned grading gravel roads to prevent potholes is eligible under the Pothole Prevention and Repair Program as well as the hot mix asphalting that was completed in 2025.

The township spent $34,000 in hot mix supplies as well as $38,000 in grader expenses. The maximum both municipalities can apply for is $38,000.

The townships of Dawn-Euphemia, Brooke-Alvinston and the Village of Oil Springs will be also be applying.
