Corunna man faces drug charges after traffic stop in Sarnia

December 22, 2025

The Independent

A Corunna man is facing four charges, including resisting arrest, after Sarnia Police arrested a man on Errol Road.

Saturday, around 2:30, police received a call from a concerned citizen about someone driving erratically around Russell St. and London Road.

Police found the vehicle – which was drifting over several lanes – on Colborne Road, south of Rosedale Ave four minutes later. Police stopped the vehicle on Errol Road and noticed the driver appeared to be impaired by drugs.

After the driver was told he was under arrest, he refused to put the vehicle in park. He rolled up his window as he reached for the gearshift. Thinking the man was trying to flee, other officers blocked the vehicle with their cruisers.

Police say the man “continued to rock the gear selector between neutral and drive” and refused to leave the vehicle. Police broke the windows to gain control of the driver, who officer say was agitated.

Once pulled out of the vehicle, police say the driver was combative.

Police searched the vehicle and found a small plastic bag suspected to be cocaine.

The 39 year-old from Corunna was charged with impaired driving, failing to comply with a probation order, resisting police and drug possession.
